The short version

Privacy

We store your email and the places you saved. Nothing else.

Last updated October 2026.

If you never make an account

We hold nothing about you. There is no analytics script on this site, no advertising, no tracking pixel and no third-party cookie. We do not know you were here.

If you make an account

Two things are stored, and this is the whole list:

No name, no phone number, no payment details, no profile. We never ask and there is nowhere to put them.

Your location

Near Me asks your browser for your position. That position is compared against a list of places that was already downloaded to your device, and the answer is worked out there. Your location is never sent to us or to anyone else. We do not receive it, so we cannot store it, and nothing about it is written down.

What is kept in your browser

A sign-in token, so you are not asked to sign in on every page, and which page you were reading when you signed in, so you can be returned to it. Both are ordinary browser storage rather than tracking cookies, and clearing your browsing data removes them.

Who else is involved

These companies make the site work. Each of them necessarily sees your IP address when your browser contacts them, which is true of every website you visit.

Photographs come from the Google Places API, but they are downloaded when the site is built and served from this domain, so looking at a place does not tell Google you did.

What we will never do

Sell your data, share it with advertisers, add tracking, or email you anything other than a sign-in link. There is no mailing list to be added to.

Deleting your account

Email hello@wheretoguide.io and we will delete the account and everything saved against it. No form, no retention period, no exit survey.

Rankings

Nothing on this site is sponsored and nobody pays to be listed, so no commercial relationship affects what you are shown.
